BACKGROUNDER
The Leeward Islands were a GBR colony that existed from 1671 - 1816. It consisted of Antigua, Barbuda, and Montserrat in one colony and Saint Christopher, Nevis, Anguilla, and the Virgin Islands in another colony.

The British Leeward Islands was established in 1833 and existed until 1960. It consisted of Antigua, Barbuda, the British Virgin Islands, Montserrat, Saint Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla and (<1940) Dominica.
