We gratefully acknowledge numismatist David N. White The £1000 note above is an unissued Trial. The Commonwealth Bank's Notes Board resolved in 1922 that dies for a newly-designed £1000 note should be made in England, and a specimen of the new design was received in 1923. It has a perforated "SPECIMEN" in the lower-right section where a signature would normally be. |
